Fred Yost Cutting Wood
Fred Yost, a longtime member of the animal rescue
community, and TNR expert, has come up with a new fundraiser this winter: he’s cutting wood for cats! Fred started with the downed mesquite trees on Casa de los Gatos’ newest property on Tanque Verde Road. At first, it seemed that once the wood from the former nursery was cleared away, the fundraiser would end. Then a generous neighbor offered his large lot of fallen cottonwoods (thanks, Peter!) and a kind employee at the Ace hardware store donated her fallen trees when she learned why Fred was having his chainsaw sharpened so often. It’s also been a nice way for those on the northest side to learn about their new neighbor, Customers have been everyone from snowbirds wanting just a few armfuls for a cozy evening by the fire to a gentleman starting up a barbeque business. So far, Fred has made $2,500 this winter, for the Casa cats.

If you’re interested in buying wood, look for the big yellow and black sign at 10700 E. Tanque Verde Rd, 1 mile east of Hougton, on the south side of the road. If you would like to donate the wood on your land, or help cut, you can email me at TopDog@AnimalHomeBuddies.com and I’ll forward your information to Fred.
